Chelsea failed to close the gap on league-leaders Manchester City with a scrappy 1-1 equal game at Wigan on Saturday.

Daniel Sturridge was lively throughout and his single moment of class on the hour-mark looked to have secured all three points, but a late howler from Chelsea keeper Peter Cech gave the Latics a desperately needed lifeline goal.
