The Dutchman's strike came after Damien Duff had given the visitors the advantage, and it came in a scintillating first half as Shinji Kagawa and Rafael added further goals.

Arsenal secured their place in next season's Champions League with thrilling win at the Hawthorns that owed much to a series of errors made by West Brom goalkeeper Marton Fulop.

The 3-2 wining means Arsene Wenger's side finish the season in third place.

Fulop was at fault as the Gunners took a fourth-minute lead through Yossi Benayoun but two quick goals briefly turned the game in West Brom's favour.

Manchester City took a huge step towards securing their first Premier League title by wining rivals Manchester United 1-0 at the Etihad Stadium.

Vincent Kompany's header in first half added time earned Roberto Mancini's team the points and catapulted them above United and into top spot on goal difference.

City now need only to match the results of their Manchester rivals in the final two games of the league campaign in order to pip Sir Alex Ferguson's men to the trophy.
