Sporting qualified for the semi-finals of European football, the 1-1 draw with Metalist in the second leg of quarter finals, held in Kharkiv, Ukraine.

After the victory in Lisbon, 2-1, the Dutchman Van Wolfswinkel put Sporting ahead, marking head, foot interval (44 minutes), but reinstated Cristaldo equality in the second part (57) and Rui Patricio prevented Metalist empatasse the tie, when defending a penalty appointed by Cleyton Xavier (64).
