Tottenham Hotspur climbed up to third place in the Premier League as substitute Roman Pavlyuchenko fired them to a 1-0 win over Sunderland at White Hart Lane.

Spurs experienced their first loss in twelve games last week against Stoke and set out to get themselves back on track against Sunderland in today's match.

Despite a spirited performance under new manager Martin O'Neill, Sunderland could not find a way into the Spurs goal and were ultimately outclassed by their high-flying opponents.
