The Hanover was tie to the land of the Standard Liege (2-2) in the first leg of the eighth-finals of the Europa League.

With the Portuguese Sergio Pinto holder, Hannover scored first through Stindl to 22 minutes. However, within 4 minutes, the Standard gave back with goals from Buyens and Tchité (27 and 30).

Only in the second part of the Hannover managed to draw. Goal by Diouf on 56 minutes. One result is that, on balance, positive for Hannover due to two away goals. The team of Sergio Pinto just a goalless draw at home to move to the quarter-final of the Europa League.
