The win enabled Galatasaray to open up some daylight at the summit after title rivals Fenerbahce went down to a 3-2 reverse at Istanbul Buyuksehir BSK.

The home team went ahead after two minutes through Samuel Holmen and restored their advantage through Pierre Webo's 57th-minute strike after Emre Belozoglu (52) had levelled.

BSK re-established their two-goal cushion through Holmen's second after 72 minutes before Alex added a late consolation for Fenerbahce, who stay level on 45 points with third-placed Besiktas.
