Moenchengladbach ascended on top of Bundesliga for the first time in 26 years after outclassing Cologne 3-0 in the league's 79th Rhine derby on Friday.

Hanke scored twice for the visitors, from 11 meters past Michael Rensing in the 20th minute and finishing off a counterattack in the 47th, after Juan Arango had scored from a free kick in the 30th minute.

Lukas Podolski had a disallowed goal for offside in the 79th minute, by which time Köln fans were heading for the exits.
