Manchester United striker Dimitar Berbatov has decided to extend his contract with the club for one more year, according to manager Sir Alex Ferguson.
With the signing of Javier Hernandez showing an impressive form, during his first season at Old Trafford, and the arrival of Danny Welbeck from Sunderland, chances are slim for the Bulgarian international.
"Dimitar is still in my thoughts,” Ferguson told reporters. "I have read some things but there is absolutely no reason for me to let him go. He is an outstanding footballer and we will give him the extra year.
"He has no complaints. The boy is a great professional and we are happy for him to be here," Ferguson added. "You need a good number of strikers in the modern day. If you look back to 1999, we had four great strikers. They all played their part.
